Horseback Riding Trip: Enjoy a one-hour guided horseback tour of Rock Springs Run State Reserve. Each tour is limited to eight riders. Riding is also offered anytime throughout the weekend at $20 per ride. Individual arrangements can be made by contacting Rock Springs Riding Stables directly at 352-735-6266. Those going riding will meet at the Rec Hall Parking Lot to carpool for the 25 minute (approximately) ride to Rock Springs Run State Reserve. (The scheduled tours are at substantially discounted rate, please let the concessionaire know you appreciate their service.)
Rock Springs Run Canoe Trip: Reminisce your Ranger Academy experience as you canoe down Rock Springs Run, leaving from Kings Landing and gently paddling down this beautiful pristine stream. This trip is limited to 10 canoes (20 people) and takes about four hours. The trip ends at the Wekiva Marina where you will be picked up for return to Kings Landing. (This trip is compliments of King’s Landing, please let them know you appreciate their generosity.)
Wekiwa Springs Canoeing: Canoe the Wekiwa Springs Run, leaving from the Wekiwa Springs canoe concession area. This trip lasts as long as you can paddle. From the park to the Wekiva Marina is approximately one hour each way. (The canoes are compliments of the Wekiwa Springs canoe concessionaire, please let them know you appreciate their generosity.)
Birding with Boyd: Wekiwa Springs State Park is home to a great diversity number of birds. Join Boyd Blihovde, Park Biologist on a guided birdwalk through the wilds of Wekiwa.
The registration fee includes all meals and food for the social hour. James Singleton, the food service contractor for Ranger Academy, will provide the meals. All meals will be served at the Dining hall and will bring back some memories of your Ranger Academy.
The reunion is located at the Youth Camp of Wekiwa Springs State Park. Accommodations include 13 cabins with 10 bunks each and centrally located group restrooms, 6 leader cabins with restrooms with 4-6 bunks each and 30 electric campsites. Accommodations will be assigned on a first come, first serve basis. The cabins DO NOT include any linens so bring everything you’ll need to stay warm or cool as the weather forecast predicts.
The following hotels are located near SR 436 and I-4 and are approximately 8 miles from Wekiwa Springs. Individuals desiring to stay in hotels should contact the hotel of their choice.

Regular Membership -
Regular membership is available to any individual with ten or more years of
satisfactory service, continuous or otherwise, with the Florida Park Service or
in a position of direct line authority over the Florida Park Service. Spouses,
widows or widowers of individuals eligible for regular membership may also be
admitted to regular membership.
Associate Membership
- Individuals who have less than 10 yearrs of service may be approved by the
Executive board as Associate Members. Associate members have no voting
privileges but are entitled to all other benefits.
Dues - Dues for
membership are $15.00 annually due on January 1st of each year.
This weekend provides an opportunity to raise funds for the James A. Cook Memorial Humanitarian Relief Fund. Relief may be awarded in cases involving financial hardship due to major medical expenses, destruction of the home due to fire or other natural disaster and other similar causes. We need your contribution of auction items to make this a success. Auction items should be quality handmade items, collectibles, or new items. On Friday evening after dinner we’ll have a Ranger Music Jam session. Bring your guitar, harmonica, spoons, jugs, whatever you play and join us for a great time of music and fun. Please dig back through your notes and memory to recollect those old Ranger Academy tunes like the “Lonesome Ranger Blues”.
