In 1986, the Florida
Legislature authorized the establishment of citizen support
organizations for individual state parks and the Division of
Recreation and Parks. There are currently 36 chartered citizen
support organizations for Florida state parks. Friends of Florida
State Parks, Inc. works to increase public awareness, raise private
funds, and seeks grants from foundations to support enhancement
programs and increase the public’s knowledge of the value of state
parks through public information initiatives. It also provides
advice and council to the division, concerning the future of
Florida’s state parks. Please accept this special invitation to
join the Friends of Florida State Parks, Inc., a statewide citizen
support organization. This not-for-profit organization is a group of
Florida citizens and visitors who have joined together with the
Florida Park Service to enhance, protect, and promote Florida state
parks. Friends of Florida State
Parks, Inc. is working to increase public awareness and knowledge on
the value of Florida's state parks to Floridians and visitors.
Members will receive publications about state parks and have the
opportunity to participate in special events and volunteer for
special projects.
